Lanzhou Petrochemical College of Vocational Technology (LZPCC) was founded in 1956, originated from two national key schools called Lanzhou Oil School and Lanzhou Chemical School, which were also the workers’ colleges for two giant state-owned enterprises in Petrol China Group, Lanzhou Oil Refinery Factory and Lanzhou Chemical Industry Company respectively.

In 1999, it became the first advanced technical and vocational college with independent function in Gansu Province approved by the national Ministry of Education. Â
In 2006, it was selected as one of the first 28 national key model polytechnics in China and financed to construct by the central government.
